Applying for your Regulatory Licensing Permit System (RLPS) is required before taking our accredited Tennessee server permit TABC class. The RLPS application process is available online at https://aca-prod.accela.com/TABC/Default.aspx.  Once you’ve completed the application process, you’ll be assigned an RLPS number in the format: Example: 21A-NPER-SER-000000.  The RLPS number is your key, which you must provide in the RLPS field when registering for our online Tennessee server permit course. Tennessee law mandates that individuals who need a Server Permit obtain certification within 61 days of their hire date. Do You Need A TABC Certification To Be A Bartender In Tennessee

In Tennessee, a server permit (or ABC Card, as they are known) is a certification that allows an individual to legally serve and sell alcoholic beverages in the state. The server permit is issued by the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) after an individual completes an approved alcohol training program.

In Tennessee, it’s not just a good idea, but a legal requirement for all alcohol servers to obtain a server permit before they can serve alcohol. This includes servers at bars, restaurants, and other establishments that serve alcohol. The server permit, once obtained, is valid for five years and must be renewed before it expires to maintain legal compliance.

The server permit is not just a formality, but a tool to ensure that all alcohol servers in Tennessee are equipped with the necessary knowledge and training to serve alcohol responsibly and safely. The comprehensive training program covers a range of topics, from identifying fake IDs to recognizing signs of intoxication, and understanding the legal responsibilities of alcohol servers.

By requiring all alcohol servers to obtain a server permit, the state of Tennessee aims to reduce the risks and harms associated with excessive alcohol consumption, such as drunk driving, violence, and other alcohol-related accidents.
